Get to Know Us

I’m a Black woman born and raised in the United States of America. My existence in this country is complex. It is rooted simultaneously in the racist and sexist ideologies of this land. A paradigm Kimberlee Crenshaw calls intersectionality. From afar I can be seen as one of the handful of tropes this country reduces my existence to: welfare mother; slut; or the aggressive Black girl at work. But these tropes do not define me as an individual, let alone a whole race of women.

What we share are stereotypes the U.S. assigns us, microaggressions, being less likely to be called for an interview, being more likely to have an idea ignored at work, and then being credited to a white colleague, and being hypersexualized. What we share is the distorted way this country perceives and treats us. With all of these barriers, we rarely hear the individual voice. We rarely hear what makes us human. We rarely hear what brings us joy or makes us powerful.

My work as a life and leadership coach addresses the unique challenges that Black women face in the United States. Through self-authorship, I help Sisters reach their true potential, access their power, and live their purpose. I use the traditions of storytelling, and learning in community to provide a nurturing environment for Sisters to Become.
